ICONN 2018 International Conference on Nanoscience and Nanotechnology 29 Jan - 2 Feb 2018 | University of Wollongong, Australia

Centre of Excellence Showcase at ICONN

The 2018 International Conference of Nanoscience and Nanotechnology (ICONN) will incorporate a showcase of six Australian Research Council funded Centres of Excellence with an interest in advancing nanoscience and nanotechnology, end-user engagement, industry partnerships, collaborations. The dedicated showcase will be held on the first day of the conference, Monday 29th January, from 9 am until 4 pm and will include introductions and presentations from the following ARC Centres of Excellence:

  • ARC Centre of Excellence for Electromaterials science This Centre is focused on developing new materials and 3D printing tools for use in creating next generation medical and energy devices.
  • ARC Centre of Excellence in Convergent Bio-Nano Science and Technology The research performed at this Centre aims to understand and control the interface of materials with biological systems. This includes exploiting knowledge of the bio-nano interface to design materials that transport and deliver vaccines, drugs and gene therapy agents, and to design new diagnostic agents and devices.
  • ARC Centre of Excellence for Nanoscale BioPhotonics This Centre is focused on controlling nanoscale interactions between light and matter to probe the complex and dynamic nanoenvironments within living organisms.
  • ARC Centre of Excellence in Exciton Science This Centre brings together researchers and industry to investigate next-generation light harvesting molecules for a sustainable energy future.
  • ARC Centre of Excellence in Future Low-Energy Electronics Technologies The research performed at this Centre addresses the challenge of reducing the energy used in information technology (IT).
  • ARC Centre of Excellence for Ultrahigh bandwidth Devices for Optical Systems This Centre‚Äôs aim is to create technology that will revolutionise information systems, create and develop Australian industry, and train and mentor young researchers in the science and application of this transformational technology.

The showcase will provide the opportunity to meet the researchers, discuss collaborative opportunities and gain insight into capabilities. It will also feature a special poster session highlighting the innovative research resulting from these centres that are committed to ensuring that the fundamental knowledge accrued is made available to the end user community and where appropriate commercial opportunities are supported to ensure maximum impact.
