Nanotechnology Research Programs/Activities:

1. Synthesis of nanoparticles and films with controlled nanostructure, via sol gel processing, atomic layer deposition and plasma based methods:
Synthesis and sol gel chemistry of transition metal oxoalkoxy nanoclusters as building blocks for the assembly of novel nanostructured materials;
Synthesis and applications of self assembling organic/inorganic nanohybrids;
Encapsulation of biological species (including enzymes and bacteria) in nanostructured inorganic hosts;
Encapsulation and controlled release of active molecules in nanoporous inorganic hosts;
Synthesis and applications of mesostructured materials;
Synthesis and applications of microporous materials
Atomic layer deposition, for the production of multilayered coatings with controlled nanostructures on polymeric, ceramic and glass substrates;.
