Current Research ActivitiesI have a multidisciplinary background as an environmental chemist/toxicologist/engineer, with specific research interests in the development of new techniques for the determination of metal bioavailability in environmental matrices and to develop novel and practical, cost effective in-situ and ex-situ remediation techniques for contaminated environments. Primarily this involves the basic study of metal contaminant dynamics in the environment.
My research activities may be specifically categorized into three principle areas:
1. Environmental Analytical Chemistry: Development of novel analytical techniques for the quantification and speciation of environmental contaminants.
2. Environmental Risk Assessment: Distribution and severity of contaminants in the environment: Implications for dietary intake and human health risk assessment.
3. Remediation Technologies: Novel materials and technologies for environmental remediation of contaminants in soil and water matrices.
My current research activities involve the study of “The role of engineered nanoparticles in the transport of environmental contaminants and the implications for remediation”, which is a multidisciplinary project conducted at the interface between material and environmental science.
