Current Research Activities

Hangrui Liu received his B.S. and M.S degree at China Agricultural University (CAU), Beijing, China, in 2014 and 2017, respectively. In the year of 2015, he was selected as an awardee of China state scholarship by China Scholarship Council (CSC) to pursue his joint master project in University of Queensland (UQ). In 2018, he embarked his Ph.D. study covered by the International Macquarie Research Excellence Scholarship (iMQRES) in Department of Physics and Astronomy and Centre for Nanoscale BioPhotonics (CNBP), Macquarie University (MQ), Sydney, Australia. His research interests focus on using microfluidics, in a high-throughput way, to detect, capture and characterize biomarkers of cancer cells, as an approach of early diagnosis. He has been specialising in the design and fabrication of microfluidic chips via 3D printing and soft-lithography and exploring surface functionalisation and microfluidic application for various purposes. In the current project, he aims the combination of biotechnology and microfabrication techniques to perform a quantitative and phenotypic single-cell assay of the cancer-related exosome.
