Brief Bio

Prof Ian Gentle

Ian Gentle received a Ph.D. from the University of Sydney in 1988, and has been at the University of Queensland since 1993, leading the Surface Chemistry Group.

He was promoted to Professor in 2009. He and his group have published widely in various aspects of science related to interfaces, in particular the fabrication and characterization of organic thin film devices. Throughout his career he has had a strong interest in the application of synchrotron and neutron radiation to interfacial science and between 2008 and 2010 held the position of Head of Science at the Australian Synchrotron while maintaining his research group at the University of Queensland. He is currently a senior researcher in Centre for Organic Photonics and Electronics as well as the School of Chemistry and Molecular Biosciences.
