Third Australian Nanoindentation Workshop

Kioloa 05/07/2009 - 07/07/2009

Nanoindentation is currently a topic of much interest as it enables the mechanical properties of materials and thin-films to be measured on the nanoscale. Furthermore a number of new nanoindentation systems have been recently acquired by a number of groups across Australia. Dr Michelle Oyen from Cambridge University will attending the workshop as the invited speaker. Dr Oyen is an expert on biomaterials applications of nanoindentation. Outline of program: Sunday 5th July Arrive at ANU and registration 2-5pm Welcome BBQ Evening Instrument User Meeting Monday 6th July Morning: Seminar-style lectures on the fundamentals of indentation by established researchers. This will be targeted towards those who are relatively new to the technique such as students and ECRs. Afternoon: Presentations from groups working on nanoindentation Evening: Workshop dinner Tues 7th July Morning: Presentations from students Tues lunch: Presentation of Student Awards and Workshop close
