Innovations Campus (IC) Scanning Probe Microscopy and Hands-On Workshop '08
University of Wollongong 28/08/2008 - 30/08/2008
The workshop will bring together Australia’s leading SPM researchers with the aim of:
1. presenting the latest advances in SPM research, including new approaches to SPM nanometrology, nanoscale properties of novel interfaces/nanomaterials, and design of emerging nanodevices.
2. providing an opportunity for students and early career researchers to meet and discuss with leaders in the SPM and nanotechnology research field. (Students will also have an opportunity to learn SPM techniques through a hands-on, full day training workshop).
3. fostering collaborations amongst the SPM and nanotechnology research community
4. assessing the current status and future needs of SPM research in Australia.
Workshop Outline and Program:
The workshop will consist of oral presentations from 20 invited speakers (10 of which are ARCNN members) and will be open to all attendees. Students and early careers researchers will be encouraged to attend.
Day (1) will focus on SPM research in the materials and physical chemistry sciences. Day (2) will focus on the biological sciences. Day (3) will involve a hands-on SPM training session for both material and biological applications.
Of the 20 invited speakers, there will be two international invited speakers and one invited speaker from the National Measurement Institute (Nanometrology Division).
The international invited speakers will be available to give talks in other parts of Australia. In particular, the workshop committee will organise further invited presentations throughout their extensive networks within the Centre of Excellence for Electromaterials Science (ACES) and strong links with the ARCNN and SPM community.
