The group focuses on the atomic simulation of self-organizing biomolecular systems. In particular our work concentrates on the development of tools (i.e. simulation software, atomic force fields, theoretical models and experimental techniques) that can be used to model processes such as how proteins fold and further assemble into function units. Specific areas of nanotechnological interest in include the self-assembly of protein/lipid complexes such transmembrane pores, protein and peptide folding at interfaces, and the spontaneous assembly of lipids and surfactants to membranes and vesicles.Scale of Nanotechnology Research Effort:
The group is located in part at the University of Queensland and in part at the University of Groninegn, The Netherlands. In total the group consits of 7 Ph.D./masters students, and 5 postdoctoral reserchers.
Nanotechnology research facilities:
At the University of Queensland the group has a 50 processor Opteron computational cluster as well as access to a range of university facilities. Via the University of Groningen, the group has access to a 400 processor Opteron Cluster as well as access to a 14000 processor BlueGene/L.Collaboration Information
