Nanotechnology Research Programs/Activities:

Sub- and Supercritical fluid micronization, polymerization and synthesis of organic and inorganic micro/nanocompounds and composites
Extraction and analysis of organic and inorganic (nano)materials
Self assembled nano-scale lipo-and polymersomes

Scale of Nanotechnology Research Effort:

1 postdoctoral researcher
4 PhD/grad students
2 Undergraduate research students  

Nanotechnology research facilities:

Numerous bench scale processes in an advanced lab facility including: supercritical anti-solvent type systems (ARISE, SAS, ASES, RESS , PGSS) supercritical extractions, super/sub-critical self assembled micell processes ( DESAM) and 2 subcritical water micronization processes. Analytical equipment includes FTIR and UV-vis equipment, HPLC, GC, Dissolution testing equipment, and cascade impactors. A scaled up version of some processes (lab scale) are also available. WIthin the department, analysis using other techniques such as SEM, H-NMR, GPC, etc. are available.
