Nanotechnology Research Programs/Activities:

Self assembled supramolecular photonics and devices.
Control of UV and laser induced glass change on the nanoscale for device processing and fabrication. This includes using macro thermal processing to grow structures from seed templates fabricted by UV holography.
Laser processing of surfaces for single layer attachment.
Study of thin films.
Fabrication of optical fibres with nanoscale features (with UNSW).
Chemical sensors using thin films.
Ddevelopment of photonic protein assays, related technologies and surface binding of proteins.

Scale of Nanotechnology Research Effort:

Approximately 16 people involved in our activities including four main staff, 4 colleagues, visiting scholars, Phd students and Honours students.

Nanotechnology research facilities:

1. 193nm, 244nm 266nm lasers
2. Diffraction phase masks
3. Holographic interferometer
4. Flourescence mciroscopy with full silicon waveguide characterisation
5. Ultra high temperature processing facilities.
6. Hydrogen loading facility (up to 200atm).
