Nanotechnology Research Programs/Activities:
Bio-photonics frontier: high throughput flow cytometry sorting of rare-event cells using Upconversion nanocrystals.
Scale of Nanotechnology Research Effort:
The aim of this project is to develop a microfluidic sorting technique integrating acoustic focusing, upconversion luminescence and time-resolved detection. This will bring in a high-speed and high-purity cell sorting technique, to open numerous opportunities in various fields of bioscience.
Nanotechnology research facilities:
Multi-color Time-Gated Luminescence Microscope system (MTGLM) and Time-Resolved Flow Cytometry (TRFC), Confocal microscope system.
