Nanotechnology Research Programs/Activities:

Dr. Zhe Liu is a computational materials and mechanics scientist. His current research interests include:

(1) Mass transport in advanced functional nanoporous materials (e.g., CNT, graphene membrane/foams, zeolite, 'intelligent' flexible MOF/ZIF)

(2) Mechanics of nanomaterials and nanostructures (e.g., nanotubes, graphene, graphite, etc.)
Physics of electromechanical actuation materials in NEMS/MEMS

(3) Thermodynamic, electronic, magnetic, and optical properties of semiconductor and metal alloys and nano-heterostructures (e.g., superlattices)

Scale of Nanotechnology Research Effort:

6 PhD students, 1 postdoc, and 1 research assistant.

Nanotechnology research facilities:

High performance computing facilities from NCI and Monash Sun Grid.
First-principles computational software; In-house computational materials design codes.
