Nanotechnology Research Programs/Activities:

We work on nano crystalline X-ray and UV-C storage phosphors. The work includes preparation methods using mechanochemistry and co-precipitation, characterisation of the products with XRD and electron microscopy and other methods and optical and laser spectroscopy. We have some products that are patented in Europe, US and Australia and also have been the origin of a spin-off company that tries to commercialise the nanophophors. More recently we have also worked on nano crystalline lead halide perovskites.

Scale of Nanotechnology Research Effort:

Group leader, 1 support staff and 3-5 PhD students

Nanotechnology research facilities:

Laser spectroscopy lab; optical spectroscopy lab; XRD; particle size analyser; XRF; ICP-OES
