Nanotechnology Research Programs/Activities:

EMU is a 24 hour central facility that supports research and research training at UNSW. Typically ~350 UNSW cross faculty, research centres and external projects are supported annually. EMU is a core partner in the Nanostructural Analysis Network Organisation-Major National Research Facility.
Nanostructured materials are characterised with a combination of techniques
* Electron Microscopy and Microanalysis (TEM, SEM, EDS, WDS, EBSD, CL)
* Scanning Probe Microscopy (AFM/STM)
* Focussed Ion Beam microscopy, processing and implantation

Scale of Nanotechnology Research Effort:

EMU staff
Academic Staff: 2
Support Staff: 8
Funded by central allocation and user charges
Typically ~350 UNSW cross faculty, research centres and external projects are supported annually.
