Nanotechnology Research Programs/Activities:
The Quantum Dynamical Theory Group led by A/Prof. Jingbo Wang in the School of Physics, The University of Western Australia explores the interaction and correlation of electrons in arbitrarily shaped quantum cavities, including quantum dots, quantum wires and heterostructures. The main applications are in the area of quantum electronics, information and computation. The group provides detailed electronic and dynamical information of nanostructured devices through ab initio calculations base on the first-principles of quantum mechanics. Current research includes:(1) Quantum waveguide theory;
(2) Theoretical modelling of quantum logic gates;
(3) Electronic structure of anisotropic quantum dots and quantum rings;
(4) Dynamics and chaos of quantum systems in time-varying external fields;
(5) Electron transport in molecular electronics.
