Nanotechnology Research Programs/Activities:

The Centre’s core research activities are being performed under the following four Programs:

1. Synthesis and Characterisation of Nanocomponents (Coordinator: Prof. Leon Kane-Maguire of the University of Wolllongong).
2. Assembly and Characterisation of Nanostructures (Coordinators: Profs. Maria Forsyth and Doug MacFarlane of Monash University).
3. Energy Conversion and Storage (Coordinator: Prof. Gordon Wallace of the University of Wollongong).
4. Energy Transfer to/from Biosystems (Coordinator: Prof. Graeme Clark of the Bionic Ear Institute).
 

Scale of Nanotechnology Research Effort:

The ARC Centre comprises of 62 personnel including 41 staff and 21 students. ARC funding is $1.4 million p.a. for 2003 to 2007.  

Nanotechnology research facilities:

Electrochemical Mapping Facility comprising of Scanning Vibrating Electrochemical Technique (SVET), Localised Electrochemical Impedance Spectroscopy (LEIS), Electrochemical Raman Mapping Spectroscopy, Electrochemical Electron Spin Resonance Spectroscopy, and Electrochemical AFM with nano-manipulator. In addtion, there are SEM, TEM, and particle size/charge analyser facilities.
