Current Research Activities

Dr. Kourosh Kalantar-zadeh is currently undertaking research on Surface Acoustic Wave (SAW) Biosensors as part of a project with the CRC for Micro-technology, Australia.

Kourosh is internationally well known for his contributions to the field of acoustic wave sensors, the development of layered Surface Acoustic Wave (SAW) sensors.

His other current research involvements include: development of gas and biochemical sensors based on nano-particles, optical sensors, conductometric sensors, and optical devices.

Nano research: He is investigating the effect of the addition of carbon nano-tubes to conductive polymers, nano-sized crystallites thin films for sensing applications and effect of nano particles on crystals.

His previous research and development involvements include: propagation of acoustic and electromagnetic waves in underwater media and ionospheric surveillance systems.

Existing Linkages

Kourosh is a member of Sensor Technology lab at RMIT University, School of Electrical and Computer Engineering.

This lab has strong scientific collaborations regarding nano-tubes and nano particles with the Chemistry and Physics departments at RMIT and Melbourne universities.

Sensor Technology lab has strong international collaborations with universities in Italy, Japan and USA in the field of nano-technology.
