Current Research Activities

Theoretical, multi-disciplinary investigations into atomic and chemical processes at surfaces, and the electronic and atomic structure of bulk materials, of high technological interest through first-principles calculations. For example, simulation of surface chemical reactions and processes in relation to catalysis, and fundamental studies of properties of nitride-based materials in relation to devices, e.g. optoelectronic, high temperature, and spintronic devices (semiconducting nitrides), as well as superhard coatings (transition metal nitrides).
