Current Research Activities

I am presently working as a Researcher at The Global Innovation Centre for Advanced Nanomaterials (GICAN), University of Newcastle, Australia in the area of synthesising mesoporous silica using super acids, a novel method with immense application in catalysis and making fine chemicals, a very key market opportunity for Australia. Research in heterogeneous catalysis for fine chemicals, synthesis, preparative chemistry and drug discovery, is currently more active than ever before. This research project is in line with GICAN’s goal of collaborating with strategic industries of Australia to develop materials that will be of major benefit to the country’s industrial economy. As of now, I am developing some novel and new metal substituted mesoporous silica in laboratory which shows good initial properties as per preliminary testing and forms a good base now for further research which can give potential results for the future research industry in Australia.
